One Lord

“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:4-6).

Every heart has a throne, and on that throne only one Lord can reign for no man can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24).

To become a member of the one body, the revelation of God’s new and final testament by the one Spirit must be heeded. This revelation by the Spirit clearly proclaims the factuality and identity of the one Lord. Only Jesus Christ has been raised from the dead and seated at God’s right hand in the heavenly places “far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come” (Ephesians 1:21).

The one Lord has only one law governing His spiritual kingdom; it is the one faith which contains a singular plan of salvation for all humanity (Jude 3). Because the one Lord has “gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him”, His decree that the one baptism now saves us (1 Peter 3:21-22) identifies what germinates the one hope and makes His disciples into sons of God.

The one Lord is the sole source of the authoritative words of eternal life for He has all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18).
