The Blessedness of Righteousness

God is not obscure in stating those who He will bless and those He will not.  Proverbs 10:6-7 is one such example of His plainspokenness: “Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.  The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.”

Righteous people are blessed by God and are a blessing to their fellow man.  Like Stephen (Acts 8:2) and Dorcas (Acts 9:39), the death of the righteous is deeply felt by their survivors.

Wicked people are detested by God and are detestable to their fellow man.  Like King Jehoram, they die to no one’s sorrow (2 Chronicles 21:20), and their memory is deplorable.

Because He was righteous, “Jesus increased…in favor with God and men” as He matured into adulthood (Luke 2:52).

Are you enjoying the blessedness of righteousness?
