Self-Determination

“A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips, he shall be filled” (Proverbs 18:20).

          You are what you eat.

Increasingly the world of health and fitness is embracing the mantra: “Food is medicine.” Your diet is a huge determinant of your health: eat poorly, and your body will be unhealthy; eat wisely, and your body will be healthy.

Like your body’s health, your life is what you make of it. You are as happy or unhappy as you choose to be. You are as peaceful or anxious as you decide. You determine whether the cup of your life is half empty or half full.

Success in life—professionally and spiritually—is commensurate to your choices and actions. You decide how much and how well you steward your talents, finances, and time. You alone choose your priorities. Your day is not one second longer or shorter than the twenty-four hours Jesus had each day he lived on our planet.

Your immortal existence is determined by the choices and decisions you make during your mortal existence. The end product of your life—either eternal weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth in hell or everlasting joy, bliss, and blessedness in heaven—is the result of your choices yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
