“Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty…Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 18:12; 16:18).
Pride is the mortal and spiritual enemy of humanity. Those puffed up with pride will fall into the same condemnation as the devil (1 Tim. 3:6).
Pride is the taproot of all human ungodliness and unrighteousness. It is the reason why people suppress the truth and are blind to the multitude of clear and unmistakable proofs of Jehovah’s existence, eternal power, and Godhead (Rom. 1:18-20).
Pride generates ingratitude, futile thoughts, foolish hearts, unclean desires, idolatry, vile passions, and debased minds (Rom. 1:21-32).
Like leprosy, pride dulls the sensitivity of one’s conscience—searing it like a piece of raw meat on a white-hot skillet.
A haughty spirit destroys every vestige of the fear of the Lord and makes you impervious to God’s impending, righteous judgment.
Pride is the sure path to destruction.
