“The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, and they go down into the inmost body” (Proverbs 18:8). “The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, and they go down into the inmost body” (Proverbs 26:22).
Whenever God repeats Himself, you can know with all certainty He is addressing something of great importance.
Without listening ears, gossip dies of stillbirth. Gossip has no value and its bearer receives no sense of satisfaction and accomplishment, if nobody listens to its devious dainties of dirt.
To gain a listening ear, a talebearer purposely prepares his/her tasty trifles. Intrigue, vagueness, an “in-the-know” air served with subtle and salacious innuendo are used to garnish a gossip’s informational garbage.
A skilled gossip can already have served his/her tasty trifle before you realize what you have been eating. It has already landed in the inner recesses of your brain and been added to your memory bank before you even recognize what has happened. This is what makes gossip so grave and subtle. It is insidious and hideous.
BEWARE of the words of a talebearer (Prov. 18:8).
It bears repeating: BEWARE of the words of a talebearer (Prov. 26:22).
