“He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit” (Proverbs 17:27).
A shallow brook babbles the loudest.
Genuine knowledge and insight—like love—do not parade themselves (1 Cor. 13:4). Competence does not need a spotlight. Its existence is realized in results, not self-promotion. Therefore, one who is truly learned does not need polysyllabic pronouncements smothered in enigmatic jargon. One who has trustworthy insight and wisdom does not feel threatened when questioned or probed.
For pretenders, this is not so. Often, the smaller their reservoir of knowledge is the louder the volume their voice becomes. There is an inverse relationship between them.
Ditto also for those who are bereft of understanding.
