Two Timeless Principles

“He who has a deceitful heart finds no good, and he who has a perverse tongue falls into evil” (Proverbs 17:20).

Two of life’s fundamental, timeless principles are stated in this one proverb. What a two-fer!

The first timeless principle: Your outlook determines your outcome. If you are looking for an excuse, you will find it. If you want to be unhappy or joyful, you will be. If you desire to be evil or good, you will be. Whatever you are focused on will be what you find. A crooked heart finds no good; an upright heart finds good. You will find what you are looking for.

The second timeless principle: Actions determine outcome. What you sow is what you reap; there is no crop failure. A lifetime of bad actions results in a bad life and eternal punishment. Your eternal existence in heaven or in hell will not be accidental.
