How Healthy are You?

“A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones” (Proverbs 14:30).

Cultivating good heart health has been a prominent pronouncement of the medical profession for decades, if not longer. Even Solomon knew that “a sound heart is life to the body.”

Because God has created the physical world to reflect the spiritual, Solomon’s counsel is applicable to both physical and spiritual hearts. People who desire to be healthy physically must be ever mindful of their heart’s condition. People who desire to be healthy spiritually must keep/watch over their hearts with all diligence, for out of the heart springs the issues of life (Prov. 4:23).

To keep your physical heart healthy there are certain specifics (such as your diet, weight, blood pressure, and stress), you must keep a close watch on. These issues are critical to your body’s quality and quantity of life.

In like manner, there are certain spiritual toxins (such as greed, lust, and ingratitude) which will destroy your body and your soul. Envy tops this list of potent poisons.

Beware of the deadly green-eyed monster called envy.
