Mind How You Go

“The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge” (Proverbs 14:18).

As illustrated in the parable of the talents (Mat. 25:14-30), God entrusts each of us with potential. How much and how well we develop that potential is the criteria used in determining whether you are a good and faithful or a wicked and lazy servant (Mat. 25:21, 26).

All of us begin life innocent and ignorant (i.e., simple). If you decide to not pursue prudence, wisdom and righteousness, you will reap the folly you have sown. You will receive the eternal inheritance which rightfully comes to everyone who does not zealously fear God, keep His commandments, and wisely lay up treasures in heaven. You will be cast into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth (Mat. 25:30).

If, however, you decide to pursue prudence, wisdom and righteousness, you will receive the crown of life (James 1:12; Rev. 2:10). You will enter into the joy of your Lord (Mat. 25:23) and receive an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and does not fade away (1 Pet. 1:4).
