The Extreme Value of Diligence

“He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich…The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor…The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, but diligence is man’s precious possession…The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich” (Proverbs 10:4; 12:24, 27; 13:4).

Diligence is a choice. It is a righteous virtue which cannot be bought or borrowed from another.

Its value is extreme (Prov. 12:27). It is essential to creating wealth (Prov. 10:4), a positive social influence (Prov. 12:24), and spiritual riches (Prov. 13:4).

Without diligence, you are enslaved to laziness (Prov. 12:24), waste (Prov. 12:27), poverty (Prov. 10:4), and unfulfilled desires (Prov. 13:4).

A lack of diligence quickly begats envy and easily imprisons you in the bondage of victimhood. This lifetime of misery is voluntary and self-inflicted.

It is easy to underestimate the extreme value of diligence.
