“A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims foolishness…Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out” (Proverbs 12:23, 20:5).
Free advice is rarely valued. Therefore, a prudent man does not give his counsel without it being sought. He does not speak in the hearing of a fool (Prov. 23:9), because he is wasting his breath and time. When another is willing to seek a wise man’s counsel and patiently tap into the depths of his wisdom and experience, he will be abundantly blessed.
The free advice of a fool is not worth the price paid for it. A fool is ever gushing over with “wisdom”. He is an expert on everything, especially on those matters of which he knows nothing. The only thing you can get out of his well of folly is foolishness. Therefore, “Go from the presence of a foolish man when you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge” (Prov. 14:7).
