“An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones” (Proverbs 12:4).
Both history and Scripture bear constant witness to the fact of the profound and powerful influence every wife possesses. She has been designed and entrusted by God with the ability to influence her home in ways no one else can.
If she pursues virtue, goodness, and godliness, she can make her home a foretaste of heaven. If she chooses to be virtue-less, evil, and wicked, she will make her home a foretaste of hell.
A wife of excellent character is the greatest blessing a husband can have in his home. Her presence is like a regal crown full of radiance and splendor. Her value is immeasurable, far beyond any possible monetary price tag.
A wife who is evil in character is a cause of great heartache and hurt to her husband and home. Her presence is like a cancer which afflicts the marrow of his bones. The grief and agony of spirit which she causes her family is horrific.
Crown or cancer.
Two words which describe the powerful possibilities of every wife’s influence.
