Two Painful Consequences of Foolishness

“He who troubles his own house will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart…Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches” (Proverbs 11:29, 24:3-4).

Because of God’s immutable law of sowing and reaping, you will never sow foolishness and experience crop failure. This stubborn fact is designed by God to strongly encourage us to avoid the path of foolishness. As a modern-day observer has noted: “When you play stupid games, you will win stupid prizes.”

Satan’s relentless attack on your home is challenging enough to withstand without you being his ally in that war. Yet, some people choose to alienate and antagonize their mate and foolishly rear their children. They have created the very hurricane which will devastate their home and heart. They will inherit the wind and have nothing but destruction and rubble to show for it. Proverbs 14:1’s sobering words remain true: “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”

Ignoring the counsel of Proverbs 24:3-4 will have a horrific impact on your life. If you foolishly choose to ignore its wise counsel, you will ruefully inherit the wind. Every time.

In addition, the only person who determines whether you live your life wisely or foolishly is you. If you reject God’s wisdom, your loss of potential wisdom and status is guaranteed. Regardless of their annual income, the fool will always be the servant of the wise of heart. Every time.

Life is challenging enough without deciding to add the harsh and painful consequences of foolishness to your daily existence.
