Mismatched

“As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a lovely woman who lacks discretion” (Proverbs 11:22).

Peanut butter and okra. Biscuits and gravel. The Old Testament and the book of Mormon. These are three clear and repulsive mismatches.

They are like taking a beautiful, ornate bracelet of pure gold and fastening it to an animal which revels in wallowing in mud all day. A hog has no appreciation for gold (or pearls, Mat. 7:6). It lacks the innate ability to discern the true value and potential of gold.

A woman blessed with a lovely feminine appearance but lacking in enough sense to dress herself modestly and discreetly clearly has no understanding of the value of her loveliness and its huge potential for good. She is no more discerning and wise than a pig which has been given a bracelet of gold or a string of pearls.

How sad that a hog and a woman who dresses to bring attention to herself are kindred spirits.
