Where are You Going?

“As righteousness leads to life, so he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death. Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the Lord, but the blameless in their ways are His delight” (Prov. 11:19-20).

The second proverb above explains why the first proverb is true. Jehovah abominates evil. He abhors a perverse heart—one which does not sincerely hunger and thirst for truth and righteousness. Like a piece of wood riddled with knots and gnarls, a perverse heart has no practical, constructive possibilities in the hands of the great carpenter of the soul.

Unlike the perverse in heart, the blameless—those who earnestly strive to do the right thing and seek to quickly rectify their misdeeds when they have missed the mark of righteousness—are a delight to Jehovah. He loves these people. Even though the way they are traveling is narrow, the righteous are living the abundant life here and will enjoy eternal life in fellowship with God in the hereafter.

The perverse who wickedly pursue evil will ultimately perish of spiritual suicide and face the condemnation of eternal separation from God.

So, which path are you currently on? What direction are you headed? Where are you going?
