“A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter” (Prov. 11:13).
Few character traits are more precious and treasured than trustworthiness. A wise and virtuous wife has a husband who can safely entrust his heart to her. This is essential for their marriage to thrive (Prov. 31:10-11).
Nothing is more dissimilar to God’s holy character than a lack of trustworthiness. Therefore, being a talebearer is specifically forbidden by the utterly trustworthy God (Lev. 19:16).
Revealing the sensitive secrets of others reveals a more horrific truth about you: You have the profane character trait of untrustworthiness.
It bears repeating: There are just some things which ought not be repeated (1 Tim. 5:13).
