The Living God

“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God…” (Hebrews 12:22).

There is nothing about an idol that demonstrates it has life. Every idol is the product of human workmanship. It has a mouth but cannot speak; it has eyes but cannot see; it has ears but cannot hear; it has a nose but cannot smell; it has hands but cannot handle or touch anything; it has feet but cannot walk (Psalm 115:4-7).

How appropriate to contrast the one true deity as “the living God”. He is uncreated. He can speak and see and hear and smell. He has power to move mountains and deliver the imperiled. He has no need of feet because He is omnipresent. There is no place a human can travel where His presence will not be (Psalm 139:7-10).

The living God explains a fundamental law of science called Biogenesis. It states that all living things come from living things. This is precisely what the Bible declares in Genesis 1.

The presence of life today is one of the many infallible proofs of the Living God.
