“And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God” (Hebrews 10:11-12).
By design, a treadmill will never take you to another location. Regardless of how many steps you take or how often you walk on it, the geographic coordinates will be unchanged when your walk is completed.
In the Old Testament, every priest of God served on the treadmill of animal sacrifices. At no time was the sacrificial blood of bulls and goats able to remove from its sincere offerer the crimson stain of sin. The treadmill of animal sacrifices was trod day in, day out. Week after week, month after month, year after year, decade after decade, century after century, yet not one inch closer to being saved.
Then, “the Man” came! He offered one sacrifice for sin and sat down at the right hand of God. “He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” (Hebrews 10:14).
The need for and futility of the treadmill were obliterated at Calvary.
