“For I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6). “Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath…” (Hebrews 6:17).
Because Jehovah is perfect, He cannot improve and become better. Any alterations in His character would mar His perfection. Because of His holiness, God cannot lie. Because of His omniscience, God never learns anything new. He knows the end of a matter from its beginning (Isaiah 46:10). This is why the God-breathed Holy Scriptures will never need amendment or revision.
Just as God’s promise to Abraham at Mount Moriah was embedded with a promise of Christ and His gospel—which came to fruition twenty centuries later and will remain fruitful to the end of time, we who are the spiritual descendants of Abraham through Christ (Galatians 3:29) can know with certainty that God keeps His word.
He is the Lord, and He and His word do not change.
