Spiritual Boredom

“…of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing” (Hebrews 5:11).

“Same old, same old.” Boredom seems to be a growing epidemic, especially among entertainment addicts.

The grave danger of boredom with spiritual things is incalculable.

A loss of appetite, inadequate exercise, and a lack of normal growth and development are telltale indicators that a child of God is unhealthy. Should this spiritual dwarfism continue indefinitely, certain death will come to those with such hardness of heart (Hebrews 6:4-8).

In both the physical and spiritual realms, the maxim “you are what you eat” is accurate. If your spiritual appetite diminishes and your ears become slothful and sluggish because of the earwax of sin, your hearing loss will manifest itself in spiritual boredom and dwarfism.

The need to lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness so you can receive with meekness the implanted word (James 1:21) is ASAP urgent.

The need to lay aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking so you can desire the pure milk of God’s word as a newborn babe and grow thereby (1 Peter 2:1) is your greatest, most urgent need.

Spiritual boredom produces spiritual pygmies.

Spiritual pygmies are not spiritual victors.
