“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:18-20).
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God” (Psalm 14:1). By suppressing the clear evidence of God’s existence and superiority, the ungodly and unrighteous foolishly and inexcusably live as if there is no God. As stated by Paul in Romans 1:18-20, the evidence of God’s existence is abundantly found:
Within each of us (v. 19). The human body is fearfully and wonderfully designed (Psalm 139:14). Every cell, every tissue, every organ, every system of your body is a scientific and architectural marvel. Your conscience—the divinely installed moral regulator which warns of wrongdoing and urges wise, righteous actions—is further evidence of humanity’s moral Creator. The capacity of your mind to think rationally and reason logically is more evidence of God and His careful creation of humankind in His image.
Outside each of us (v. 20). The laws of nature clearly imply a Lawgiver superior to them. The possibility of any sort of scientific investigation is predicated upon the principle of cause and effect. This axiom applied to the question of our universe’s origin plainly points to God, His eternal power, and His deity.
Atheism is inexcusable foolishness. It refuses to be honest about the most basic of facts. This foolish philosophy and lifestyle with its abject folly is only embraced by those who suppress the truth in unrighteousness and refuse to see what has been clearly visible about the invisible God from the creation of the world.
Clearly, atheism with its abject folly is the furthest thing from a solution to humanity’s problem called sin.
