Teaching/doctrine which is “sound” (from the Greek words hugiano and hugies which found their way into the English language via the word “hygiene”) is spiritually hygienic. The wholesome diet of truth spoken in love promotes phenomenal spiritual growth—you are able to “grow up in all things into Him who is the head” (v. 15).
The power of truth spoken in love is spiritually healthy for the body of Christ. It will join and knit together every joint and cause the “growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love” (v. 16).
When the message spoken is truth and the manner used is love, great blessings are in store for those who hear and heed.
