Few things are more distasteful to your mouth than vinegar. Few things are more irritating to your eyes than smoke. Both are used in Proverbs 10:26 to illustrate and emphasize the highly irritating effect a lazy person has on those who need him/her to be diligent and trustworthy: “As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the lazy man to those who send him.”
Slothful employees are not trustworthy. Lazy people accomplish little, if anything, in their wasted lifetimes. How tiresome and annoying their endless excuses quickly become.
What an irritant a lazy man is to his family, to his boss, and to his God.
