The fatherhood of God is unique to Christianity. No other spiritual leader (not even Moses) has ever dared to teach his disciples to pray “Our Father which art in heaven” as Jesus did.
Like their heavenly Father, godly parents are pre-eminently concerned about their children’s spiritual health and well-being. Conscientious fathers and mothers are intimately familiar with the anguish felt by the father whose younger son left home for the far country and its riotous lifestyle (Luke 15:12-13).
Therefore, Solomon writes, “A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother” (Proverbs 10:1).
Is your life as a child of God, bringing gladness to your Father, or are you breaking His heart?
