“Hands that shed innocent blood” (Proverbs 6:16-17).
Margaret Sanger.
The Guttmacher Institute.
Planned Parenthood.
Each is notoriously infamous for the open advocacy of shedding innocent blood.
As horrific as it is to imagine, the bright scarlet stain of the unauthorized shedding of innocent blood saturates human history. Cain killed Abel (Genesis 4:8); King David had Uriah—his loyal, innocent soldier—murdered via his specific battle orders (2 Kings 11:14-17); King Herod commanded infanticide (Matthew 2:16); Jesus’ death was nothing but judicial murder (Acts 2:23). In the last century, it has been estimated that about 100 million people were murdered by a handful of vicious tyrants—Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao Zedong. In the United States of America, abortion currently is a billion-dollar industry.
Hands that commit murder are found upon those whose hearts harbor the spiritual toxins of unrighteous indignation, perpetual hostility, blind rage, and unbridled tongues (Matthew 5:21-22).
First John 3:15 still has this sobering reminder: “Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.”
