The Wisdom of Being Righteous

Like sheep, humanity tends to be quite hardheaded and easily distracted.

This reminder may be helpful when reading the final three verses of Proverbs—”The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not inhabit the earth.  The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out.  The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse” (vv. 30-32).

It is impossible to carefully ponder the book of Proverbs and not realize the imperative nature of choosing upright living over wicked behavior.  Opting to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age by using your mouth to speak wisdom and employing your lips in a gracious and appropriate manner is essential to a life well lived.

He who would love life and see good days pursues righteousness.

He who pursues righteousness is wise.
