An Endless Hope or A Hopeless End

The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.  The way of the Lord is strength for the upright, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity” (Proverbs 10:28-29).

The righteous have an endless hope.  They have gladness, confidence, and strength in this life.  Their purpose for living is to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13); therefore, they have an imperishable treasure in heaven (Matthew 6:20).  For them, death is gain (Philippians 1:21).

The wicked have a hopeless end.  They have disappointment, disillusionment, and futility because of their decision to disregard God and His word; therefore, they will have unending regret and sorrow (Matthew 8:12).  For them, death is an irreversible, eternal loss.
